New Mark Spells
To
those of you who haveThe Book of Eldritch Might,
these spells look somewhat familiar. Their siblings,
mark of fire, mark of air, etc., all appear
in that book.
Continuing
in their tradition, researchers are coming up with
more and more mark spells all the time. Here
are two.
Mark
of Acid
Evocation (Acid)
Level: Sor/Wiz 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 full round
Range: Touch
Target: One creature
Duration: 1 hour/level or until discharged
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes
This
spell creates a dark green amorphous mark on the face,
hand, or other prominent feature of any creature,
living or undead. Those bearing this mark gain a +2
enhancement bonus to Constitution. They also possess
the ability to cast from the palm of the hand a spray
of acid that inflicts 1d6 points of damage to everyone
within 10 feet of the character (Reflex saving throw
for half damage). Using this spray of acid ability
immediately dismisses the mark of acid.
Mark
of Sound
Evocation (Sonic)
Level: Brd 3, Sor/Wiz 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 full round
Range: Touch
Target: One creature
Duration: 1 hour/level or until discharged
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes
The
energy of this spell, also known as songrune,
creates a dark blue spiral mark on the face, hand,
or other prominent feature of any creature, living
or undead. Those bearing this mark gain a +2 enhancement
bonus to Reflex saving throws. They also possess the
ability to scream with a powerful, shrill sonic blast
5 feet wide, 5 feet high, and 50 feet long. Anyone
in this area suffers 2d6 points of sonic damage (Reflex
saving throw for half damage). Using this sonic blast
ability immediately dismisses the mark of sound.
