WizKids Announces Collectible Miniatures Game
Featuring Characters From the Marvel Universe

SEATTLE, WA -- Marvel Enterprises Inc. and WizKids LLC are joining forces to launch characters from the pages of Marvel Comics onto the gaming table. The upcoming strategic combat game -- in which Marvel Super Heroes are transformed into three-dimensional, prepainted, collectable miniatures complete with the statistics and abilities of each character incorporated into the base -- allows players to build an army from a collection of Marvel's most famous superheroes and villains, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Dr. Doom, and Magneto. Using the same revolutionary game system as WizKids' best-selling miniatures game Mage Knight, players can pit their characters against each other in any combination they can imagine.

"The Marvel universe is brimming with heroes and groups that complement each other in battle. It was a very natural match for the combat dial. This gives comic book fans and gamers the opportunity to play out the battles they've always envisioned," said WizKids founder and creative director Jordan Weisman.

The adaptation of Marvel characters to combat-dial-based miniatures will be led by best-selling game designer Monte Cook (Dungeons & Dragons), as well as several Marvel editors, writers, and artists who will collaborate with Cook to ensure that the game stays true to the characters‚ powers and abilities as presented in the comics.

Marvel and WizKids made this joint announcement during WizardWorld, a large comic book and game convention held in Chicago each year. The yet-to-be-named combat-dial-based Marvel miniatures game will appear in gaming, comic, toy, and hobby stores everywhere in Summer 2002.
