Arcana Unearthed / Diamond Throne Official Contest Rules

No purchase necessary. Open to all entrants submitting a proper entry before December 31, 2003. Void where prohibited by law.

How to Enter:
To enter the contest, submit your character to Malhavoc Press. You must create the character using the rules—races, classes, feats, spells, and so on—found in Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed. The character stats must be correct, and you must include all the information on the Arcana Unearthed character sheet on page 250 of the book. (Or you can find the character sheet online.) The character's background must fit into the setting provided by The Diamond Throne.

Your entry must be typed in English and fit onto no more than two single-sided typed pages. At the top of each page, you must include your name, complete mailing address, and email address. No cover letter is necessary. Entrants under the age of 18 must include with their entry a copy of the Parental Consent Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Selection Process:
First- and second-prize winners will be selected in by a panel of judges by January 31, 2004, from among all eligible entries received by Malhavoc Press. Entries will be judged on both the use of game statistics and the originality and writing of the character's background. The decision of Malhavoc Press is binding on all matters relating to this contest. The prizes will be awarded and the winners will be notified by mail.

Conditions:
By participating in the contest, entrants agree to release and hold Malhavoc Press, its owners, subsidiaries, affiliates, and agencies harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind in connection with the contest, or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, including, without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy, whether suffered by entrant or a third party. This contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.

Malhavoc Press and its agencies are not responsible for injury or damage of any kind related to or resulting from participation in the contest. Malhavoc Press and its agencies are not responsible for error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or failure to receive entry information on account of postage problems.

By submitting their entries, participants warrant that the submitted work is their own original work, free from any copyright restraints or claims by a third party, and that they possess all the right, title, and interest necessary to enable Malhavoc Press to use the work without any license or permission from any third party.

Entrants agree that their submitted work becomes the property of Malhavoc Press and, by submitting the work, entrants transfer all copyright to the work to Malhavoc Press, which may at its sole discretion publish the work whole or in part without further notice or additional compensation to entrant.

Entrants acknowledge that their work may be identical with, similar to the theme, plot, idea, format, or other element of the material that Malhavoc Press has independently developed or that has or may come to Malhavoc Press from other sources, and entrants shall not be entitled to any compensation by reason of the use by Malhavoc Press of such similar or identical material.

Eligibility:
Open to legal residents of all countries except where prohibited by law. By entering the contest, participants under the age of 18 years represent to Malhavoc Press the correct name and address of a parent or guardian for notification purposes. Employees of Malhavoc Press are not eligible to participate in the contest. The respective affiliates, subsidiaries, franchisees, agents, and retailers, advertising, promotion agencies, and fulfillment companies of Malhavoc Press, and the families of each living in the same household, are also not eligible.

By accepting a prize, winners grant Malhavoc Press permission to use their names for advertising and future promotional purposes without notice or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). This contest is subject to these Official Rules. Failure to comply with the Official Rules will result in disqualification.

A participant's entries will be disqualified, at the sole discretion of Malhavoc Press, if participant attempts (i) to enter the contest through any means other than described in these Official Rules; or (ii) to disrupt the contest, circumvent the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, or in any way tamper with any component of the contest. If any of the above occurs, Malhavoc Press has the right to remedy any such action, disruption, or circumvention, and to seek damages from the participant to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Prizes and Approximate Retail Value:
1. First Prize (1 winner): A one-time freelance design contract that pays the winner $1,000.00 U.S. Plus the winner receives an autographed copy of the Malhavoc Press product Legacy of the Dragons (approximate retail value of $21.99 U.S.).

2. Second Prize (10 winners): Autographed copy of the Malhavoc Press product Legacy of the Dragons (approximate retail value of $21.99 U.S.).

Winners will be notified by mail by February 15, 2004. All prizes will be awarded by May 30, 2004.

No prize transfer. There is no prize substitution or cash equivalent except at the sole discretion of the sponsor due to prize unavailability for any reason, and only then for a prize of equal value. Winner is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes.

Entries are property of Malhavoc Press and will not be acknowledged or returned. Noncompliance with this requirement or return of prize/prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification, and an alternate winner will be selected.
By participating in this contest, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges. Malhavoc Press is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest, or in the announcement of the prizes.
