DriveThruRPG.com
Increases Security of PDF Sales
June
7, 2004 (Renton, Wash.)Malhavoc Press, one of the
first publishers of PDF roleplaying products, has entered
into an exclusive agreement with DriveThruRPG.com
to offer Malhavoc electronic products as secure e-Books
on this new site, game designer Monte Cook announced today.
DriveThruRPG.com
is the first completely professional gaming e-Book site,
and it offers secure downloads using Adobe's secure server
technology. Basically what iTunes is for music, DriveThruRPG.com
is for roleplaying games. Like PDFs, e-Books are electronic
editions of physical books, but they use Adobe's Digital
Rights Management (DRM) technology for copyright protection.
This secure technology is designed to help combat Internet
piracy.
"E-Books
are the next big step forward in the publishing of electronic
products," Monte said. "As an early proponent
of PDF publishing for the game industry, I'm happy to
be a part of it."
DriveThruRPG.com,
a virtual gaming superstore, offers products from top
RPG publishers, including many companies whose titles
have never before been available in electronic format.
Products range from current releases to the classic games
that take us back to our own "good old days."
Malhavoc Press now offers its
full line of more than two dozen products as e-Books
on the site at its normal low prices.
The
digital delivery service offered by DriveThruRPG.com allows
you to buy a product and receive it via secure download
within minutes24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To
introduce fans to the site, Malhavoc Press is offering
a free download of "Narrog the Earth Serpent,"
an illustrated, fully detailed dragon character, to those
who create accounts on the site. And to help new fans
get excited about this great way to get their games, Malhavoc
and DriveThruRPG.com will be offering The Book of Eldritch
Might for download absolutely free during the week
of June 28. Other free books, such as Gamma World
from Sword & Sorcery, will be available at other times
in June to celebrate the site's launch. Talk about a good
deal!
Monte
Cook, co-creator of the Third Edition of Dungeons &
Dragons® (the basis of the d20 System), also penned
the Dungeon Master's Guide and many other books
for TSR/Wizards of the Coast. He launched Malhavoc Press
in May 2001 with the publication of the bestselling
Book of Eldritch Might, which won three EN
World d20 System Awards for excellence. Hallmarks of Malhavoc
products include unusual magic, monsters, and evocative
game elements that go beyond traditional fantasy, as well
as a mastery of the d20 System rules. The company was
named Best Publisher at the EN World d20 System Award
ceremony held at Gen Con 2003. Malhavoc Press titles are
available at this website, along
with free game design articles. Print versions are published
by Sword & Sorcery.
