Malhavoc Press

Cry Havoc Design-a-Unit Contest!
UPDATE: Nov. 14, 2004: This contest has ended.

Illlus. Todd LockwoodSkip Williams' definitive d20 mass combat system is now in stores! That's right, the print edition of Cry Havoc is now on sale, and we're recognizing the occasion with a new contest. Up for grabs is a set of Cry Havoc galleys (printer's proofs) autographed by the author and a poster featuring the book's cover art and signed by artist Todd Lockwood. These unique items will be awarded to the winners of a blind drawing of all those who post their own unique unit to the contest's message board thread.

How to Enter:
In Chapter Three of Cry Havoc, Skip details unit combat and describes how to create your own unit using the Unit Record Sheet on page 133. (There's even a sample filled-in unit sheet for your reference on page 132.)

So what we want you to do is design your own unit, using the rules in the book, and post it to our Cry Havoc Contest message board thread.

Your entry must be in English and it must include all the information listed on the Cry Havoc Unit Record Sheet (but individual creature names are strictly optional). You can dowload a Unit Record Sheet here [60k PDF]. Unit postings must also cite the source (d20 book, website, etc.) of the base stats for all the creatures in the unit, as well as the relevant urls, page numbers, etc.

We will hold a blind drawing of all eligible entries and draw a first-place and a second-place winner. First prize isa quality poster featuring the artwork from the cover of the Malhavoc Press product Cry Havoc, autographed by artist Todd Lockwood (approximate retail value of $30.00 U.S.). Poster dimensions are 17" x 22". Second prize is the set of Cry Havoc unbound proofer's galleys created by the printer in advance of print publication, autographed by author Skip Williams (approximate retail value of $21.95 U.S.). Aside from the autograph, they are otherwise unmarked.

You may enter as many times as you like, but every entry must be in a separate post to the message board thread. In addition, each unit you post must be unique—our message board moderators will delete duplicate entries. What's a unique unit? If you're the first to post it, it's unique.

So get creative! The more people enter, the more units we'll all have to use in our own Cry Havoc mass combat d20 games.

The deadline for entry is midnight on Wednesday, November 12, Pacific Standard Time. To post your unit on the message board, you must be a registered ez board user. We'll contact the two winners by a message sent to their ezInbox shortly after the drawing and will announce them here on the site in a future update. Prizes will be awarded by mail. No purchase necessary. Open to all entrants submitting a proper entry before November 12, 2003. Void where prohibited by law. The decision of Malhavoc Press is binding on all matters relating to this contest.
