New Bestiary by Bruce Cordell Introduces 18 Psionic Creatures
March
13, 2003 (Renton, Wash.) --From the chameleonlike chalaziom
to the dreadful xenocrysth, Bruce Cordell brings 18 all-new
psionic monsters to life in his new supplement Mindscapes:
Beasts of the Id, on sale today from Malhavoc
Press.
Bruce,
who also designed the Psionics Handbook, invented
new creatures with Challenge Ratings ranging from 1 to
20, so there's something to throw at every adventuring
party. "Some of the new monsters are interesting
variations on previously disparate creature ideas,"
he explained, "but most of them explore entirely
new, scary, and strange monster territory."
Players
also can use these beasts of the id as new creatures for
their characters to summon and control. In addition, the
book includes a handful of new powers, templates, and
additional guidelines to use with the monsters.
Mindscapes:
Beasts of the Id comes as a 32-page, illustrated PDF
file with a streamlined page design to minimize file size
for faster downloading and conserve ink for quicker printing.
The book features the black-and-white artwork of Toren
MacBin Atkinson and Alan
Pollack, who also painted the cover illustration.
This electronic edition, regularly priced at $7, is available
now from online retailers for the sale price of only $5.
The book is suitable for characters of all levels and
any fantasy campaign. Fans can sample the table
of contents, as well as previews
of the art and a new monster
free.
The
electronic edition of Bruce's Mindscapes: A Psion's
Guide, featuring 64 pages of new prestige classes,
feats, items, powers, and a variant psionic combat system,
is also available now.
Born
in Watertown, S.D., Bruce Cordell holds a degree in Environmental,
Population, and Organismic Biology from the University
of Colorado. While working as a Research Associate in
process chemistry he learned to synthesize DNA, but he
couldn't resist the call of game design. In 1995, after
a few years as a freelancer and designer of online text-generated
virtual worlds, he abandoned science for a designer position
at TSR (now Wizards of the Coast). His many design credits
include the Psionics Handbook, The Sunless Citadel,
Heart of Nightfang Spire, and the Origins Award-winning
Return to the Tomb of Horrors. He won the 2002
EN World d20 System Award for Best Adventure for his first
Malhavoc psionics title, If
Thoughts Could Kill. Bruce lives in Seattle, Wash.,
with his wife Dee and their dog and five cats. He is hard
at work on his second novel. To read more about him, visit
