FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Skip Williams to Design Malhavoc Book

Cry Havoc Includes d20 Mass Combat System

October 11, 2002 (Renton, Wash.) -- Dungeons & Dragons® 3rd Edition codesigner and Monster Manual® author Skip Williams has agreed to pen a sourcebook on war for Malhavoc Press. This book, Cry Havoc, will include a complete mass combat system for the d20 System when it debuts next summer.

"I think this is going to be a great book," said Skip. "Peace isn't the natural state of things in most fantasy campaigns, not with all those sword- and spell-wielding adventurers and megalomaniacal villains running around. Sooner or later, armies march, nations tremble, and heroes come to the fore."

An essential d20 guide to war, Cry Havoc will examine all aspects of war in a fantasy setting, from battlefield maneuvering to raising armies, and from prolonged sieges to lightning commando raids. Skip promises the book also will include a host of new martial spells, feats, magic items, and prestige classes.

"Skip's knowledge of the rules is obviously beyond reproach," said Malhavoc Press founder Monte Cook on his choice of author for the new book. "I would trust no one to put together a quality product more than him."

Skip's 96-page sourcebook is the third in the Malhavoc Press series of event books-"how-to" guides for DMs and players. It is projected for a summer electronic release, with a print edition to follow next fall. The first event book, Requiem for a God by Monte Cook, is available now in PDF, with its print edition coming next month. The second volume, When the Sky Falls, is due out from regular Malhavoc contributor Bruce R. Cordell in PDF in spring, with its print release scheduled for early summer.

Game industry veteran Skip Williams started his career behind the cash register at TSR's Dungeon Hobby Shop in 1976. As a senior roleplaying game designer at Wizards of the Coast, he codesigned the newest edition of the D&D game and was the primary author of the new Monster Manual and coauthor of the new Forgotten Realms® Campaign Setting, among many other titles. He left the company last month but continues to enrich the roleplaying industry as Dragon® Magazine's Sage and through various upcoming d20 publications. Skip is fond of old movies, old airplanes, and old books, but not necessarily in that order. He lives with his wife and editor Penny in the Puget Sound area with their Siamese cat and several birds.

Malhavoc Press is the publisher of the award-winning The Book of Eldritch Might by Monte Cook, also a codesigner of 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons. Hallmarks of Malhavoc products include unusual magic, monsters, and evocative elements that go beyond traditional fantasy, as well as a mastery of the d20 System rules. All current Malhavoc Press titles are available in electronic format at this site. Print versions are published by Sword & Sorcery™.
