A mythic psionic artifact known as the Crystal Consiousness cycles toward awareness as it did once before, ages ago. Previous Waking Events gave rise to the psionic disciplines known today, while its coming erased other disciplines, now long forgotten. As the artifact awakens, your characters strive against rival groups to find it and prevent a momentous psionic paradigm shift -- or manipulate it to suit their own ends.

The full-length adventure in If Thoughts Could Kill uses the psionic rules from Bruce's Psionics Handbook. In addition, fully one-third of the book contains even more rules, including three new psionic creatures (such as the psionic lich and the kureshim, a PC race), nine completely new powers, new feats, items, and variant rules, and even an all-new psionic prestige class, the Colorless Adept. It also offers the new discipline of Psychonecromancy and more than 300 new powers converted from spells in the Player's Handbook and The Book of Eldritch Might.

Origins-Award-winning designer Bruce Cordell is known for his many creative D&D products, including Return to the Tomb of Horrors, The Sunless Citadel, Gates of Firestorm Peak, The Illithiad, and Heart of Nightfang Spire.

The updated PDF, available starting March 13, 2003, features a quicker-printing page layout, additional illustration from the print edition, and bonus content from this website (also featured in the print edition).
