This is an upgrade file only, for those who have previously purchased If Thoughts Could Kill.

Malhavoc Press has created an updated version of the electronic (PDF) edition of If Thoughts Could Kill. The new version, which updates the book to be compatible with v. 3.5 of the d20 System rules and the Expanded Psionics Handbook, is now for sale. Those of you who have already bought the If Thoughts Could Kill PDF can purchase this low-cost upgrade to update your copy to the new version!

This upgrade, for Windows users only, is just a file that you download, unzip, and then execute. You'll be asked where your copy of If Thoughts Could Kill is, and then it will automatically change your PDF copy of the book to reflect the changes. (You might be told that the time stamp on your PDF doesn't match, but don't worry, it will still work.) Of course, you must have previously purchased the electronic edition of If Thoughts Could Kill for the upgrade to work.

Important: If you bought If Thoughts Could Kill on or after July 8, 2004, you DO NOT need this upgrade.

USING THE UPGRADE:
1. Make sure you have a backup copy of your original PDF file.
2. Make sure you have the most recent prior version of If Thoughts Could Kill, or the upgrade will not work. To get the most recent prior version, you must have purchased your copy of the PDF after March 13, 2003, or have run a prior free patch*. For earlier free patches, see below.
3. Go to our online catalog to buy the upgrade. Proceed through checkout there to get the upgrade, then download it from the link provided.
4. Unzip/run the upgrade.

* Free patches (below) corrected errata points, updated the layout, added sections from this website, and fixed typographical errors.

The 3.5 upgrade is for the revised version of "If Thoughts Could Kill" dated 3/12/03; 4572411 bytes
This is the most recent previous version of the book.

After the update, the file should have the following properties:

Content Note: This upgrade only updates the previous PDF edition of the book to v.3.5 of the d20 System. It does not add any entirely new content. The resulting updated version of the book is actually shorter than the previous version. Some variant rules from the previous edition of If Thoughts Could Kill, such as the power scaling and secondary disciplines rules, were removed from this new edition, because the issues they addressed in the original d20 psionics system were fixed in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. These outdated variants are no longer necessary or desirable for the new psionics environment.

The free Update 2 patch updates If Thoughts Could Kill's layout, includes material from this website and artwork from the book's print edition, and keeps the product in compliance with the latest update of the d20 SRD. To download the free Update 2 patch, click on the link below.

You must use the Update 2 patch if you want to use the 3.5 upgrade described above and you downloaded the book between January 16, 2002 and March 13, 2003 -- or if you downloaded the book earlier than January 16, 2002 but you've already used the Update 1 patch (see "Older Free Patch," below).

If you bought the book before January 16, 2002, use the Update 1 patch below before downloading the Update 2 patch. (The previous free patch (below) corrected errata points and fixed typographical errors.) If you downloaded the book after March 13, 2003, go straight to the 3.5 Upgrade described above.
